Extradition for Man Charged with Murder in New Jersey

When someone is arrested, the individual is usually arrested for an act they allegedly committed within a small range of time and place. While this may be likely, when some individuals are arrested they also face other pending criminal charges.

When the arrested individual has outstanding criminal charges in another state, the individual can face extradition charges that can require the individual to be transferred back to the state requesting extradition. Extradition requests are typically made if the individual has severe outstanding criminal charges…and an outstanding criminal charge for homicide, a violent crime is considered severe enough to be extradited to New Jersey.

After a man was recently arrested in Florida, police learned of a prior charged offense. He now faces extradition to New Jersey for the outstanding murder charge. The man has been charged with the killing of a 40-year-old woman who was a New Jersey resident.

After the woman’s body was found in a burnt house, it was determined to be a homicide. The man was originally arrested after taking a cab ride and failed to pay the cab fare. It was reported that the man talked about the homicide to the cab driver. When the arresting police investigated the man about the incident, the man was reportedly belligerent and uncooperative.

An individual who faces serious criminal charges may require an experienced attorney to review any pending charges. Serious criminal charges can have severe consequences.
